ROCKY

Rocky has been a part of our program since it began 7 years ago. Originally his owner leased him to us, but Rocky has now become a permanent resident at our farm. He is a Morgan gelding and we are not exactly sure of his age, but we think he is around 20 years old. Rocky is very gentle, easy going and patient. He enjoys being the center of attention and especially loves the treats he receives after lessons.

CECIL

Cecil is a 22 year old Quarter Horse Mare that has also been a part of our program since it began. She is a retired halter horse and was shown quite extensively in her younger years, but definitely enjoys her retirement now. Cecil is an extraordinary horse, it appears as though she has the ability to completely understand the needs of participants that ride her. She loves her fare share of treats, but jelly beans are by far her favorite.

NORMAN

Norman is a 1 year old Jersey steer that has been a part of our center’s petting zoo since he was about a month old. He shares his home with our two miniature horses, Butterfly and Starburst. Norman is extremely friendly and enjoys being the center of attention.

BUTTERFLY AND STARBURST

Butterfly and Starburst are miniature horses that were donated to our center about 3 years ago. It was after that when we decided to start a small petting zoo for the children that participate in our program. People seem to love these little girls and these little girls seem to love people – especially since people mean lots of carrots and apples.

NIBBLES

Nibbles is a 15 year old quarterhorse mare and is what you could call our centers’ “mascot”. She has never been ridden due to a severe illness when she was very young. Nibbles enjoys eating, basking in the sun, eating some more, chatting with Norman over the fence and did I mention that she enjoys eating ?? Our center is Nibbles’ forever home, as she is a very special horse.

CEASAR

Ceaser is a 5 year old Dun Quarterhorse and has been a part of the center for about a year. At 14.3 hands, he is the perfect size for lessons. He is sturdy, quiet and absolutely loves attention. Ceasar is still learning and we are certain that he is going to be a wonderful asset to our program.

DAWN

Dawn is an Arabian mare that arrived at our center last March. We are not quite sure of her age, but we were told by her previous owner that she is about 20 years old. Her small size makes her a great mount for children and less intimidating than the larger horses. She is a sweetheart and absolutely loves attention. Dawn especially enjoys being brushed and having her ears scratched. She makes a wonderful addition to our center and makes a perfect fit with our other horses.

FRANZ  "the french cat"

Franz "found" us with the help of a relative who knew that we wouldn't say no. He was living in his families' garage because the dogs that lived there didn't like him. Franz made himself right at home - as if he'd always been here….He enjoys hanging out in the barn while we're doing our chores and follows us around the yard. We weren't sure how he would get along with our dog Max, but they have become the best of friends….when they aren't wrestling or playing, they are snuggled up on the couch together. It's a rough life.

MAX

"guarding" the chickens

We adopted Max about a year ago ….he had become too much for his owner to handle. Max has two speeds - stop and 100 mph. He was not able to run where he was and his owner was unable to handle him on a leash. We were apprehensive with Max, because he weighs about 100 lbs. and had never been around farm animals before. Well, it took him all of an hour and he was running around …out in the pasture with the horses….he even lies down with them. I truly believe he thinks they like him, I think they just tolerate him. Max's favorite pass time is barking at the chickens….and Norman…and the neighbors…and the birds flying overhead…and the leaves falling from the trees…and so on…but we wouldn't trade him for anything.

                        OUR LATEST ADDITIONS

Who doesn’t love farm fresh eggs ??

We do too... So we decided to adopted some “Polish” and “ Silkie” chicks which we figured would make a nice addition to our ever growing farm. My daughter carefully selected six “hens”, which we brought home and day by day, we eagerly awaited for our “ farm fresh” eggs. As the “hens” continued to grow, we noticed that two of these “hens” were starting to look a bit different from the rest. Then, one morning, we got our answer. It was about Five o’clock in the morning when we heard our first cock a doodle doo….times two.
